greater-manchester-policeA man could lose the sight in one of his eyes after being stabbed with a broken glass. The victim, 46, was standing in the doorway of The Cornishway pub in Woodhouse Park sometime between 3am and 3.30am on 1 January 2011, when he was attacked by two men. The man was knocked to the floor but one attacker continued to kick him in the face while another stabbed him in the eye with a broken bottle. He was taken to hospital for treatment to a broken nose and severe eye injury. The first offender was described as being of mixed race, 5ft 10in tall, in his 20s, of thin/medium build and with short cropped afro style hair, thick eyebrows and some facial hair. The second man was described as white, 6ft tall, of medium build and in his 20s with short brown hair. Detective Constable Ed Lister, of West Didsbury CID, said: "This was a gratuitous assault that left the victim so seriously injured he could lose sight in one of his eyes. "The attack happened as the pub was emptying and there would have been a lot of people about and I am urging anyone with information to call me so we can arrest these two thugs." Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 6152, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
