putstopcrimeThe Northenden Neighbourhood Policing Team teamed up with shopkeepers in Northern Moor as part of a three-day drive to promote the independent charity, Crimestoppers. Virtually all shops in Sale Circle replaced their usual carrier bags with Crimestoppers bags and displayed leaflets and posters as part of the days of action. Police also visited 1200 properties and spoke to over 450 residents about the benefits that Crimestoppers anonymous reporting line can have on the community. A Police Pod was erected next to Sale Circle whereby residents could pick up crime prevention materials and speak to their neighbourhood officers. Sergeant Allan Dean from the Northenden Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Crimestoppers is a completely anonymous vehicle that residents can use to pass information about criminal behaviour to the police.  Calls are not recorded and Crimestoppers will not ask for your name, they’re only interested in your information. “Throughout our three days of action we received an overwhelming support from the local shopkeepers, with the majority of them displaying large Crimestoppers posters in their windows, leaflets on their counters and swapping their usual plastic bags for Crimestoppers versions.” Gary Murray, North West Regional Manager of Crimestoppers said: "It is great that the Northenden Neighbourhood Policing Team are showing such support to Crimestoppers.  I am hopeful that the extra publicity that they are giving to the charity, will make a real difference in removing criminals who operate in the area.  With the help of the public, together, we can fight crime in local communities." To contact Crimestoppers about crime in your area call 0800 555 111 anonymously and make a difference without giving your name Councillor Martin Eakins is pictured with Gary Murray, Crimestoppers Regional Manager, Susan Davidson, Homewatch Coordinator, and Sergeant Allan Dean.
